Not A Shopaholic

I’m not a car enthusiast, but I admire cars that seem to be set apart from other cars. I mean, if you buy a red Honda Civic, chances are there will be hundreds of red Honda Civic cars that is the same with yours in the city. But why is it that some ‘ red Honda Civic’ cars just different? It’s because the owners spend some time and cash in accessorizing their cars. Accessories such as spoilers, chrome accessories, custom tires and car grills make your car look different from other cars and therefore reflects your identity and personality.

So, if you want to drive your car with style, then the key is to ‘accessorize’!

For our trip to Cameron this weekend, I would like to buy a few things.

• Strawberry Tea

• Strawberry Coffee

• Small souvenirs like Fridge magnets
• cacti
• other small plants that are easy to take care

I also wish we can visit the Boh Tea Plantation and have our tea and scones. But I guess that’s too much to ask since we will all be busy for the conference.

I’ve just encountered some French words today and I was curious to know their English translation. Here are those words: vélo électrique which means electric bicycle, fauteuil louis which means the Louis armchair and the last word is actually an English word too, domiciliation which means to establish a permanent residency.

Well, that’s enough of French lessons for now.

My Hubby has a friend who just got a job in Ikea. He informed us that Ikea has a sale until the 21st of March this year. Oh, I would love to visit Ikea during our trip this time but then, it seems that we don’t have the time to do so.

I’ve been to Ikea a few years back and I just love to see everything that they have. Looking at their products and display somehow reminds me of my interior design days. And since Ikea’s products are mass produced, many of their items are also very affordable.

Hmmm.. I would love to buy some stuff for our house… I just hope that we could have the time to go there.

My friend just gave birth  through cesarian section here in Thailand. We’ve found out that the package fee for a Cesarian section has already increased from 37 Thousand Baht to 40-45 Thousand baht. I remember that I only paid 32Thousand baht for my Cesarian section at the same hospital 2 years ago. So, I asked my friend if she has PhilHealth insurance in the Philippines. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have one. Our Philhealth insurance can actually refund us a portion of our hospital bills even if we got hospitalized outside the Philippines. I remember being reimbursed more than 20 thousand pesos for my operation.

During these days, getting health or medical insurance, life insurance or mortgage life insurance is no longer a luxury but as a necessity if we look at the future.

I’m just reminded of this song by Madonna, called Material girl. I think this is an 80’s song and I could vividly remember the MTV of this song with Madonna sexily dressed with diamonds all over her and men after her.

One thing that I can confidently say about myself is that I’m not a material girl. I’m more of a foodie girl. LOL! But seriously, I can live for years without buying new clothes, shoes, bags, jewellry and etc. If I do a ’survey’ on my closet now, I can assure you that more than 80% of my clothes are hand me downs from my sisters, given to me or bought at 2nd hand shops. Sometimes, my hubby will have to be the one to remind me to buy new clothes or something for myself. It’s either I’m stingy or I just don’t value these material things too much. But the thing is I don’t get too obsessed with materials or go at all costs to acquire these materials.

But you know what, there are also downsides of not being a ‘material girl’. Because, I don’t place too much value on things, I tend to be a bit careless with them. I can’t count how many times I’ve lost my earrings, jewelries and etc. Of course, I feel bad about losing these, but it only takes for awhile and I’ll be okay. I’ve witnessed some of my friends who cry over a lost earring or a snatched bracelet.

Where is this post heading to? Anyways, I guess I just need to place a balance for myself that I should still take good care of all these material blessings ( without getting to obsessed with acquiring them)  that I have and that is called stewardship.

The other Saturday was our Mommy’s Day out. So, my friends and I went for buffet lunch, a hair cut and a facial spa. It was my first time to experience to have a facial and I would say that I truly enjoyed the pampering. I also learned a lot of techniques on how they do facial spa professionally. I’ve actually been doing facial spa for my Hubby but I used my own techniques which is very ‘primitive’ compared to those done in the Spa centers.

So a day after my facial spa experience, I went to Boots Health and Body shop and bought some ‘gadgets’ for the spa. At that same night, I did a facial spa for my Hubby. My Hubby truly enjoyed it and was amazed that my service was professionally done. Well, thanks to my real facial spa experience and by the way, I charged my Hubby 350 Baht as my professional fee. Just kidding!

When I was in college, I always keep up with the latest John Grisham novels  available in the bookstores. During those times, his books would surely ended up as  movies. I always get intrigued with the difficult cases in his stories of many twists and turns.

I’m actually just reminded of the John Grisham novels when I came through the site of some of the Forth Worth Attorneys. They are known to be the best criminal defense lawyers in Texas. And not to mention it’s also a holiday here in Thailand tomorrow, so it seems like everyone is out in the malls and supermarket.
