Earlier, I’ve posted that Penang in Malaysia has declared Mondays as Plastic Bag free, but here in Hong Kong, every day is a Plastic Free day and therefore most people bring their own recyclable bags when they go shopping. If they don’t have their own bags, they will be charged .50 HK dollars for every plastic bag they use from the shop. So, I guess that’s why people would rather bring their own bags, they can save money and also save the environment.
This is a very good move from the government and I really admire them for making this work in their country. Hope more and more countries will be able to implement this program in an effort to save our environment.
hope this can happen in the Philippines too.
