Made In Vietnam

A “Made in Vietnam” Shop in Hanoi where I bought my Hubby’s Jacket

It wasn’t on my plan to buy anything in Vietnam. My purpose there was to visit my brother’s family and see Hanoi. But then, my Mom mentioned about my brother in law wanting a Columbia jacket. Then I remembered that there are a lot of shops selling factory ‘seconds’ or ‘overruns’ in Vietnam. So, I then set aside some money to buy a Columbia or North Face jacket for Hubby.

It’s a good thing that my brother is an ‘expert’ in Hanoi. He knows the places that sell genuine branded overruns. There seems to be shops that sell ‘fake’ brands too and tell their customers that they’re factory overruns.

So, I was able to buy a North Face Jacket for my Hubby for only 600,000 dong or 900 Baht. I checked the Northface site and the same jacket costs 100 $ or 2.2 Million Dong ( 3,200 Baht). That’s 3x times the price! Yes, it’s the original North Face but with minor defect. I didn’t even see the defect until my brother pointed it out to me after sometime scrutinizing the item. I don’t mind the defect since I really like the feel of the material for the jacket, not to mention the color and the design too.
